Just over a year ago, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that with the economy's slow but certain recovery, the number of private sector jobs nationwide had returned to their pre-crash levels. But different regions are recovering at varying paces, according to a new report by Glassdoor, a top job search and recruiting site based in Mill Valley, CA. The report shows that, like the gold mining prospects in the frontier days, your best bet for finding fortune is to head west. Of the top ten spots in the report detailing the cities where jobs are most plentiful, seven are in the Western states and Texas is home to five of the top 15. Based on unemployment rate drops, job growth and wage increases since 2009, the report suggests you may want to pack up and head to one of these cities:

  1. Midland, Texas
  2. Odessa, Texas
  3. San Jose (Sunnyvale) Santa Clara, California
  4. Greeley, Colorado
  5. Provo-Orem, Utah
  6. Laredo, Texas
  7. Houston (The Woodlands) Sugar Land, Texas
  8. Ames, Iowa
  9. Charlotte (Concord) Gastonia, North Carolina-South Carolina
  10. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  11. Naples (Immokalee) Marco Island, Florida
  12. Austin (Round Rock), Texas
  13. Columbia, Missouri
  14. Raleigh, North Carolina
  15. Burlington, North Carolina

Pushing much of the recovery in these states are the oil, gas and tech industries. But note that most major cities nationwide are experiening positive growth in jobs and economies. If you're planning to relocate to or from the Washington DC area and one of these cities, let McKendree Moving & Storage help make your move a smooth one. Call 800-530-2626 for an estimate today.
